Ground Zero is Sacred Ground

Sorry Mr. President, but a mosque or anything Islamic at or near ground zero in New York city just doesn't fly. At the very least it is in bad taste. At worst it is a message to the world that the US is a push over. Hey enemies, terrorists can do anything they want to us and we will build you a monument on the spot.
Ground zero is sacred ground. Made so by the innocent blood shed and lives lost. not only the lives of innocent people working in the United States of America, who went to work on 09/01/01 simply to do their jobs and make a living for there families. Ground zero is sanctified by the tears of family and friends. The courage of emergency workers, police and firefighters who gave their lives to try and save the innocent.
I am reminded of a story from a documentary on baseball, and the role baseball played in healing the 911 sneak attack. I remember the image of President Bush throwing out the first pitch at Yankee stadium. I tell you what, I never was much of a Bush fan, but just like the then Yankee Paul O'Neil, the image of the President of the United states standing alone in the middle of a packed Yankee stadium, unafraid is indelibly imprinted on my memory, and changed my mind about the man as well.
Compare this image to your statement of support for Islam and a symbol of "a mosque" near ground zero. Whereas President Bush's pitch gave me respect for the man and increased my respect for our country; your "pitch" has decreased what respect I had for you and is cause for deep concern in the country. You are commander in chief. What's next a statute of Mohammad in front of the pentagon? Let us not forget the Moslems dropped a human bomb on the pentagon as well. Could you imagine President Eisenhower suggesting such a thing or FDR. Perhaps we need a monument to Hitler on the beaches of Normandy, or a temple to emperor Hirohito at pearl harbor.
I am appalled at the mere suggestion as all Americans are.
The perpetrators of this sneak attack on our innocent people using other innocent people as strap on bombs were we are told Islamic extremists, or so we are told. Were they or is jihad real? Has the Islamic world declared jihad giving us all the chance to convert or die? What if the latter is the truth? What are you doing to protect us?
If this sneak attack using the innocent on the innocent should not the moderate Moslems of the world be using their oil money to rebuild the twin towers? I have heard nothing like this. all I hear is "oh, they may have been from our mosque, but they don't really represent us or our teachings." I am sorry but I am not sure I really buy this rhetoric. Sounds like a cover for jihad to me.
A MOSQUE NEAR GROUND ZERO ...
What have we become as a nation and a people. We planted the flag in Iraq and left. Is that what we will do in Afghanistan? And the violence goes on. And not just in Afghanistan but around the world and in our own country. Christians slaughtered around the world in the name of Allah. And in our own country Christians assaulted in Michigan.
