The Obama Presidency is now officially a failure

Even though I could not vote for him as president, being Catholic and Barak Obama being pro-choice, I, like many others, had high hopes for the first African-American President of the United States.  I was happy with his initial few wins in congress bosltering the eceonomy by extending unemployemnt benefits, WIA, including training for those out of work, and the health care reform -- most especially the public option.  Actually, I thought the "public option" was the whole idea of health care reform. When he signed the executive order banning the use of federal money for abortions, I was heartened by his change of policy direction.
However, I did not believe that he would be any more successful in reforming health care in this country than any other president who has tried.  Heath care run by insurance companies in the country for profit is corrupt, and abortion for profit is a part of that corruption.  Like any other presidents who had tried to reform health care, I believed he would fail and pay a heavy price for such folly.   History is riddled with such examples.  Prior to Obama the latest was the work of the Clintons.  It was only after  they went to the mat for health care reform early in their presidency (make no mistake about it they are a pair two as one) and they paid the price via  the exposre of the so called "white water" scandal  and the release of stories of the presidents philandering as governor. And of course they backed off on health care reform.   Unfortunately such a program and change in policy would take the strength of character and political savvy of those who have long since been assassinated.
I wondered what he price would be for Obama.  For his going all out on ehalth care reform during his first year in office.
At first I saw no price tag.  And then I realized that there was no public option and that the reforms still left health care in ths hands of the health care and health care insurance companies.  The CEO of AMGEN even thumbed her nose at the president by raising premiums while the "reforms" were being debated.  But President Obama's real bill for pursuing health care reform -- his "white water" was the systematic desmantlaing of the grassroots organization that brough him to power in the first place.  ACRON is no more..  Trumped up charges via a video of encouragement of prostitution t one of the many filed offices.  and then the voter registration fraud obfuscations-- btw there is no such thing --- having regsiterd voters myslef I know that a high number are disqualified by the state and not registersd do to the very reasons ACRON was being accused of.  The people doing the registering are not  responsible for felon who signs their names, and the state catches these people when it does their audit of the voter registration lists turned in by those doing the registering.  The state is in charge of registration not individual registration takers and the state does not allow or pay for sign-ups that do not pass muster.  There is no registration fraud.  Acron was not registering voters, only the state can do that.  their workers were only collecting signatures and identification information for the state to audit. so, charges of voter fraud were misunderstood by the public in order to embarass and destroy ACRON, a group that tried to supply jobs for the unemployed in the urban areas of America.  Obabam's natural constituency and base of campaign workers.   There is nothing illegal about either one of these functions.  The point is that the health care/Insurance industry destroyed the presidents grassroots organization as payback for health care reform and as with the Clintons we got none.
So, Obama's legitimate grass roots organization that only tired to help people at the margins, not without mistakes, was dismantrled.  Obama is left without the organization at the statewide levels that allowed him to win the nomination and the presidency.  He will not be able to build another such organization.  This is too bad, for the grassroots campaign tha Obama ran and won was a thing of beauty paritcualrly in campsrison to recein campeigns, i.e., since the Reagan years when candidates merely slugged it out via televised ads featuring mudslinging and name calling.  Obama tried to elevate this throughout his campaign and that is admirable.
But what eaxactly do I mean that the Obama Presidenacy is failed.  No matter what else he does.  What he was elected to do he did not accomplish.  What acron and his other grassroots supports and peoplle at the margins wanted voted for and needed was overlooked.  The faith we had in him has been betrayed.  He failed to do the one thing he was elcted to do.  Had he accomplished this nothing else he accomplished would have mattered, having not accomplished this, nothing he does means anything.
So "Yes We Can," became this month  "No We Didn't."  What was he elected to do?  What could he have done that he reently did not do.  What was on the agenda this month that would have had the most profound change for the better,  that would have had the most lasting change on the country particularly the economy?  What was Obama elceted to do? Reverse the Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthiest 1%.  This was the only plank in president Grorge W. Bush's platform, and despite START, and Heath Care reform, and gays being able to choose skirst over pants in the military.  Tha one thing Obama was elcted to do that would have had the most impact for the good of the country, those at the margins of society who helped and beilved in him, the common working man would have been the reversal of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%.
Having failed to do this the Obama presidency is over.  It is failed.  History will judge it as such.  "Yes we can." "Change" what was the meaningof these slogans -- reverse the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%.
So, either Obama is a liar and as big a demagouge as Sara Palin, or he is as politically naive as Jimmy Carter.  Either way he failed.  His term is over.  And he let his constiuency down -- the common working man, those at the margin in the most profound way -- he failed to do what he was elected to do.
So he  might as well stay in Hawii for two more years.  Who cares?  By not rescinding the Bush tax cuts for the welaiest 1% he has contiued the recesiion indefinitly, increased the ntaional debt by lowering revenues, tied the hands of the federal government to implement progressive programs that are necessary to get us out of recession, virtually insured a depression,  and changed his campaign slogan from "Yes We Can" to "No He Didn't."
The spin doesn't matter the bottom line is that the Obama presidency is now a failed lame duck presdency, simply marking time to the next election, while th common working man and those at the marign live in the same shadow we lived in before he was elected.  He failed to do the one thing he was elected to do.
